Evangelists can feel isolated and alone, leading to discouragement. We need peers and mentors for mutual encouragement and growth, so we can faithfully fulfill our evangelistic calling throughout our lives. Listen to Mark Slaughter explore several kinds of relationships essential for evangelists to thrive, their vital characteristics, and how we can develop them for the sake of the gospel.

This was one of the workshops at the Connect PDX Conference in Portland, Oregon in September 2019.

Mark Slaughter has been proclaiming the gospel “to this generation” for over 40 years, the last 30 years as an evangelist with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship/USA, including outreaches at university Mission Weeks, churches, and conferences. One of his dearest mentors has been evangelist Leighton Ford (Billy Graham’s brother‐in‐law) over the past 25 years, and he now serves on Leighton’s Board and teaches mentoring with him. He is involved with many collaborative initiatives focused on evangelism and mentoring a new generation of evangelists and evangelism leaders (e.g. Lausanne, Leighton Ford, NGA, etc.). Recently Mark began serving NGA as the Coordinator of Advance Groups (mentoring small groups for NGA evangelists) and as an NGA evangelist and evangelism trainer.
